Research, Collect, Communicate

After the advice from the group crit it came to my attention that when doing an infographic book jacket, no  matter how I planned to represent the information, it would be extremely difficult to not give away so much of the plot. I was told to look at focusing on one part in particular, perhaps in the form of a booklet, or to produce a series of posters which could be based on quotations.

I liked the idea of a series of posters, or maybe a fold out that could form a map. I started looking at infographic representations of other films, and given the vast amount of contextual information Tolkien provides, it would give me a wide selection of ways to represent each part.

I was very interested by Visual Aid² and found a lot of examples that were relevant to my particular research topic

After looking at plenty of infographic examples of film adaptations, a poster seemed like the most fitting idea as it would allow me to include all the information I wanted as oppose to have to cut bits out for the sake of a first time reader, instead I could direct it at fans.
Despite this, I really liked the infographic on the Academy Award nominations which could quite easily be exchanged for the flow chart synopsis on the reverse of a book jacket. Since I have already looked at design and layout I have decided to look more into developing film posters with a wealth of information, and return back to the book jacket idea when I have an equal breadth of design ideas and information for both and see which one is likely to be more fitting to the brief.
